Sealing Travertine Tiles

The Travertine stone is usually left in its natural form without any polishing done to it.  It is usually scarred by acids and epoxy products are used to fill the gaps of the pores.  The use of polishing powder will only accumulate in the pores.  This makes the cleaning even more difficult.  It is highly recommended to use pressure cleaning of above 800PSI if the grout is in good state.

Layering treatment of sealants is used to attain the shiny, protective film on the surface of Travertine stones.  From time to time, it is important to strip and reapply the sealant on the Travertine.  A variety of sealants are used for either indoor or outdoor tiles. They vary in characteristics, durability, protective manner and slip resistant features.

The Travertine Stone is a calcareous stone, normally categorized as very sensitive to acid as they easily dissolve in acid.  Therefore it is imperative not to utilize all forms of acidic based products on the stone.

Stripping Travertine Tiles
Most Travertine tiles use sealants for protection.  This sealer must be removed and reapplied in intervals.
